Hello everyone --
I am in the process of taking all the gift book items in the workroom downstairs to their new home in the mailroom (basement). I will attempt to chip away at this backlog in the coming months.
If someone wants to donate books to the library try *very hard* to persuade them to go through central Gifts Processing. I know this is not always possible when people are standing in front of you with a box of books/journals. If you do accept any gift items it is YOUR responsibility to report them to Gifts AND take them to the basement, unbox them, and put them on the shelves.
Once I hack through the backlog, we should all take turns analyzing and processing gift books.
Lets try to keep the table in the workroom cleaned off for other purposes than long term gift book storage....
Thanks! --Chandra

This is great Chandra. For those who are not aware of how the Gift Department works, here's their website: http://www.lib.washington.edu/Gifts/
Under "Where to deliver your gifts" there is a list of information that need to be included in with the box of books.
If the person comes into the Engineering Library with the items and is not concerned about IRS deductions, then get the above information from them and put the items in the basement per Chandra's instructions.
If someone calls ahead and wants to donate, please refer them to the Gifts website and Carolyn Aamot. This way we avoid dealing with the items at all!
